Following the dedication from the Municipality of Lousada to be a green city, the OptiWaMag project focuses on waste management-related solutions for the urban spaces with the increase of green solutions (for example, using recycled materials on playgrounds, increasing awareness campaigns in parks).
In fact, Europe faces major challenges in waste management due to high population density and growth in waste generation. For this reason, a partnership with six partners from Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and led by the County Administrative Board of Östergötland from Sweden have launched the OptiWaMag project.
The project OptiWaMag aims to demonstrate how the development of the current waste infra-structure in urban spaces and in households can deliver sustainable solutions through the exchange of good practices.
Recognising that effective, policy shaping outcomes require enhanced cooperation between involved stakeholders, the OptiWaMag project incorporates interregional collaboration to deliver its results in 3 sequential steps: Identification and Analysis; Interregional Mutual Learning; and, Knowledge Transfer and Action Planning.
